Minehead

After the tour of the house we continued our journey on to Minehead the beach is not impressive here so after a quick trip up the town we headed for the park and down to the start of the South West Coast Path you can go east or west.

Picture taken at the start of the walk I then sat on the seat while Patrick went off to look at the boats.

Looks like the tide was out

Patrick

Patrick sugested we walk up the hill we have done it before but not today too hot, so decided we should head back for the train unfortunately it was running an hour late but at least we had time for tea and Patrick had apple pie.

One of the steam trains having a wheel changed

Coal yard at Minehead

We had an interesting ride back in the train met a school teacher who had worked all over the world should be retired but was bored so is back teaching in Cario he comes home once a year and tours around on trains.

The it was off to the Merry Monk for a very good meal.

Cleeve Manor

We decided to have a trip on the Steam Railway from Taunton to Minehead on checking the times we discovered there was a trip to Cleeve Manor which looked interesting.

Steam Railway this is run mostly by volunteers and it is years since we took the trip, it was a lovely sunny day so we set off fromYeovil at 9am.

We got off the train at Blue Anchor and waiting for us was the tour guide for the Chapel Cleeve Ghost Experience bbc programe the bbc did a programe and it is worth watching.

Cleeve Manor

Picture of the guide outside the manor

After a short ride to the manor we alighted from the bus to we were led round the old part of the manor to start the tour it was very dark inside and then the first ghost appeared, to tell us about the house.

A monk to tell us about the original house after the guide had been locked out.

The party then followed the butler he was really good blind and was a good story teller.

This was when we entered the part of the house that has been restored

I was standing just inside the room and had the fright of my life when the cord came down from the lady of the manor who had killed herself.  I thought the decorations were well done in theis part of the house.

The ceiling was very well decorated and impressive.

After listening to a the story about the house during the war we saw the bride who had died in the lake this was very good and made a few people jump.

The tour continued in the cellar but it was too dark to take photo's plently of cobwebs

Present owner of the house then served us with tea and cake

Fire place fully restored
