Olympic Torch Yeovil

Well the torch was coming through Yeovil and as I only had to walk a short distance and it was once in a life time I made the effort. Set off at 7.15 am and walked to the end of the road already quite a few people waiting.

First there were a lot of police cars and motorcycles I think they were to keep the crowd interested.

Very disappointed that our leg started at Five Ways Roundabout and finished just past the Pub only about half a mile looks like the torch spends most of its time on the bus.

The crowds waiting for the the torch

First sponsor Coca Cola

Followed by Lloyds TSB

Last sponsor Samsung

One of the many buses

There were lots of support cars this one carried the official bikes

FINALLY THE TORCH

The lady carrying the torch was not from Yeovil

Milverton Summer Fair

We took part in the Milverton Summer Fair on Bank Holiday Monday so it was an early start Patrick, Daphne and I set off from Yeovil with the car loaded up at 7 am we had only been traveling for a few minutes when the rain started.  Well what do you expect it was a bank holiday.

We had spent a busy week making hats, peg bags, childrens bag and Sue and John had supplied jam and plants.  Patrick found rugs and other items to sell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d74KZnnPxTw  Our stand has the ballons with MND on.

We got to Milverton at about 8 and started to put up the stand the rain held off for a while.

The street is very narrow so we had to shorten the legs and put the back up on to someones front garden, not just my bad photography it was sloping Patrick and Daphne trying to keep everything dry.

The sun came out again and the band kept us entertained.

It was out turn to take up another couple of hours on the stand and the wind got up, Patrick holding on to the stand it kept trying to walk further into the road.

Down came the rain again sent Daphne out side to hold on to the back must say she kept on smiling.

The sun came out again and the Morris Dancers kept us in good spirits.

This picture was taken very early just after 10 the people really supported the event and it was difficult to find parking, so although hard work it turned out to be very profitable.

We only sold 6 summer hats but all the waterproof ones sold, we sold out of rugs, jam and plants as well.

The shed had got to be moved

The green shed was taking up to much room in the vegetable area so I thought it would be a good idea to move it.

As you can see it was taking up a lot of room we put it here originally as there was a concrete base already here when we moved into the house.  Jake watering Patrick's onions.

Unfortunately the concrete turned out to be 6 inches deep before Patrick hit the hard core so we decided to hire a tool for breaking up the concrete.

We saw the picture on the web and it looked quite small did not think about the compressor which we could not lift out of the car lucky for us we could get it right up to the back fence and operate it from there.

Patrick starting to give it a go nothing happening so he changed the head.

With the new head he really got going.

First part done the concrete now it all had to be moved.

Filling the new base

Mixing the concrete

The rain stopped long enough the base is now completed and we just have to dismantle the shed and move it to its new position.
